Mushroom Expert Kem Luther Makes VIMGA’s Annual General Meeting A Wonderful Success
Vancouver Island Master Gardeners held our AGM on 5 November in Nanaimo. The two speakers from the chapter (Joan Wynden on permaculture and Jo Canning on woodland garden design) presented slide show-enhanced seminars that were well received, and Kem Luther, author and mushroom expert, presented an in-depth seminar on mushrooms and their place in the gardening as well as the wild environments. His display of fresh local wild mushrooms surprised and delighted the membership. Who’d have thought there were so many varieties? He took a weather-hardy group on a mushroom hunt after the meeting.
