Do you know about Fire Smart Landscaping?

Brent Schorr, Victoria Master Gardener in Training, researched Fire Smart best gardening practices and best plants for the west coast. He delivered an informative presentation on the topic to the Piers Island Fire Safe Team in August.

Fire Smart is living with and managing for wildfire on our landscape. By choosing to extend our lifestyle and communities further into forested areas, we become more exposed to the danger of wildfire. Fire Smart landscaping techniques and selecting safer plants can lessen the effects of wildfire on our urban environment. To learn more, see his PowerPoint presentation and the list of FireSmart Strategies and Plants below.
