Richie will share tips and techniques, emphasizing the best plants to turn your dark garden spaces into an oasis you are happy to see and proud to show. Through beautiful photography and informative commentary, you will leave with great ideas to make your shade garden shine.
Few people have a greater passion for plants and excitement for gardening than Richie Steffen. Richie is the Curator for the Elisabeth C. Miller Botanical Garden near Seattle, where he manages the garden and their rare plant collections.
He also supervises Great Plant Picks, the primary educational program of the Miller Garden. GPP is committed to building a comprehensive palette of outstanding and reliable plants for maritime Pacific Northwest gardens.
A noted photographer, author, lecturer and horticultural personality, Richie enthusiastically shares his knowledge and expertise.
HORTICULTURE CENTRE OF THE PACIFIC
The HCP is renowned not only for its Pacific Horticulture College, but for the year-round garden experience that all can enjoy. The gardens are lovingly cared for by volunteers, staff and students of the College, and range from the hands-on Children’s Garden to the largest outdoor Bonsai Garden in Canada, the charming Takata Japanese Garden, Doris Page Winter Garden, and much more.
