The 2019 Okanagan Master Gardeners (OMG) Basic Training Course (BTP) offers a rewarding opportunity for gardeners passionate about deepening their knowledge and serving their community. This comprehensive training challenges participants to grow their gardening skills while preparing them for impactful volunteer service.
2019 OMG BTP Key Details
- Dates: Saturdays, September 7 – December 7, 2019
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Location: Kelowna, BC
- Duration: 12 weeks
Participants attend sessions every Saturday and complete weekly reading and assignments to enhance their understanding of topics like botany, soils, and sustainable gardening practices.
2019 Information Sessions
Attending an information session is a prerequisite to joining the course. These sessions provide essential details about the training and include a brief quiz to assess gardening knowledge.

Becoming a Master Gardener in the Okanagan
The 2019 Basic Training Program emphasizes both education and community service. To become a certified Master Gardener, participants must:
- Complete all sessions and assignments, achieving at least 80% on the final exam.
- Fulfill 65 volunteer hours and 5 continuing education hours over two years.
