The Prince George Master Gardeners (PG MG) Chapter, established in 2008, is affiliated with and supported by the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society (DDBGS) in Prince George, British Columbia. With the latest Basic Training Program cohort, the PG MG Chapter has members from Prince George, Vanderhoof and Williams Lake.

The chapter’s primary mission is to cultivate a community that’s passionate about eco-friendly gardening. They champion the use of biological controls, create habitats for beneficial insects, and promote natural pest control strategies. Nestled in the unceded and traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, the chapter is also dedicated to ensuring that all gardening practices and recommendations are tailored to thrive in the unique and challenging growing conditions of Central and Northern British Columbia. By blending traditional wisdom with innovative techniques, they aim to inspire gardeners to nurture both their plants and the environment.

Imagine a community where horticultural education blossoms—thanks to the Master Gardeners in Prince George. These dedicated experts conduct hands-on gardening clinics, immersive workshops, captivating lectures, and inspiring garden tours. They extend their support as consultants to community and school gardens and are ever-ready to share their insights through seminars or lectures. They organize events such as the community Seedy Saturday, attend trade shows and plant sales to provide gardening advice, and promote gardening activities. The chapter has also partnered with the Prince George Public Library to host the Prince George Seed Library each spring, including workshops on seed saving, seed starting and being successful when transplanting.

The Prince George Master Gardeners Chapter has woven a legacy of promoting environmentally responsible gardening practices and offering priceless educational resources, enriching the lives of gardening enthusiasts across the community.
