Prince George is now the home of the most northerly botanical garden in Canada, with the opening of the Khasdzoon Yusk’ut Botanical Garden in June 2025.
Khasdzoon Yusk’ut Botanical Garden (Dakelh for Red Maple of the Hill) is a communal project led by the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society in collaboration with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the University of Norther BC. The garden is dedicated to celebrating Indigenous knowledge, showcasing Northern BC’s native plants, inspiring environmental stewardship, and connecting people to place.

The completed garden will span 11 hectares and include themed areas such as the Confluence Entry Garden, Rose Garden, Four Seasons Labyrinth, Peace Garden, and interactive children’s spaces.

Prince George Master Gardeners are members of the Society and are valuable contributors of knowledge, expertise and labour in the new garden.
