Kelowna Seedy Sunday 2026 was another great event for the gardening community in the Okanagan. Hosted by the Okanagan Master Gardeners, the day brought busy crowds, a completely full indoor room of vendors and exhibitors, strong volunteer support, and plenty of energy, even in rough weather outside.
The weather was absolutely terrible at times, with wind knocking over the outdoor tents and hail around lunchtime, and that likely affected overall event attendance. Even so, the event was still a success. The day was lively, full, and well supported by volunteers, vendors, exhibitors, and visitors.
Kelowna Seedy Sunday 2026
This year’s event took place on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Parkinson Recreation Centre. The Apple Room was completely full with vendors and exhibitors. Outside, guests could also visit the City of Kelowna Landfill team, Fire Smart, and The Blueberry Guys, and enjoy food from the Dosa food truck.
Inside, there was lots to see and do. The children’s workshop room stayed active with help from UBCO Science students, an Okanagan Master Gardeners workshop, the beloved chick holding station, and other family-friendly features. The event also included workshop speakers, returning participants, and several new vendors and exhibitors.
A big part of what made the day go well was the work of the volunteers. Okanagan Master Gardeners showed up ready to help with setup, welcome guests, support vendors, and keep the day running. Four Basic Training Program students also joined the event and helped throughout the day. Their support added to the team effort and gave them a chance to be part of one of the chapter’s best-known spring events.
After the event
Rachael shared thanks after the event and noted that it was “a busy, at times frantic and absolutely horrendous weather, but another great event overall.” That sums it up well. Seedy Sunday asked a lot from the volunteers, but the group came through and helped create a warm, useful, and welcoming event for the public.
Many vendors and exhibitors later shared their thanks as well. That kind of feedback matters. It shows that the event continues to be valued not only by visitors, but also by the groups, growers, and organizations that take part.
Attendance was down from some previous years, and the weather was likely a major reason. Looking ahead, one area to improve is outreach to families. That is an important opportunity for future Seedy Sunday events. Family-focused programming already adds a lot to the day, and growing that audience could help the event keep building.
Thank you for another wonderful Kelowna Seedy Sunday!
Even with the stormy conditions, Kelowna Seedy Sunday 2026 showed the strength of this gardening community. It brought together gardeners, volunteers, students, local organizations, and exhibitors for a full day of learning and connection at the start of the growing season.
Thank you to all Okanagan Master Gardeners, Basic Training Program students, vendors, exhibitors, and community partners who helped make the day happen. Spring is on the way.
