Review the guidelines below for the best chance of successful identification of your mystery apple tree.
Guidelines for successful identification:
Please pick 4-6 of the largest apples on your tree, with stems and unwashed. Collect apples from the sunny side of the tree and store in paper bags in a cool place away from green peppers, broccoli and cheese.
With thousands of named varieties of apples visual identification of many apples the more information provided the better the chance of successful identification.
Please help us with the identification of your apple by answering the following questions:
Is there more than one variety on the tree?
What is the tree’s diameter about 6 inches from the ground?
When were the specimens picked?
When is the fruit ripe?
Until what month would the fruit keep in the fridge or cool storage?
Is the fruit better for eating or cooking?
Are the specimens typical in colour, shape and size to others on the tree?
Is the tree growing along a fence, road, railway or footpath?
Is the tree single or part of a row?
Is the tree growing is shade, part shade, or full sun?
When was the tree planted? By whom?
Do you have any idea as to the name of this variety?
