• Which varieties of potatoes do well in the Victoria area?  Can they be grown in pots or bags?

Potatoes are a great way to grow your own food, with high yields, a variety of colours, shapes, and tastes, and that can be grown directly in the garden, large pots, or in bags.

• When do you plant potatoes in Victoria?

As a general rule potatoes can be planted in March through June. However in our wet climate (that has seen chilly springs) it is recommended that you wait until late April. In particular the reason is waiting until the soil is moist not wet, and the soil temperature is 6C / 43F. This can avoid fungus issues.
